Kettering University congratulates nearly 300 students who were named to the Spring 2023 Dean's List. The Dean's List recognizes overall academic performance based on the student's term grade point average (GPA). To be eligible for the Dean's List, students must satisfy the following requirements: be a degree-seeking student with a minimum term grade point average of 3.5, no grades below B, and a minimum of 16 earned credits for the term.

Sigma Nu Fraternity recently awarded its Rock Chapter Award for the 2021-23 Biennium to the A-Section Eta Mu Chapter. The award is presented to chapters that have achieved excellence in all areas of chapter operations during a period of at least two years. Only 21 chapters in the country received this award.

Students of Kettering University's new A-Section arrived on campus July 6. The students and their families attended a Convocation ceremony to welcome them to the Kettering community.

Hundreds of students walked across the stage to accept their degrees at Kettering University's Commencement ceremony. The event was June 17 at Atwood Stadium in Flint.

The Physics and Astronomy Honor Society, Sigma Pi Sigma, initiated new members June 8. To qualify for membership, students must be a junior or senior, have a minimum overall cumulative GPA of 3.0, completed at least four physics courses of three credits or more with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 for those courses and be in the top 33% of their graduating class.

Several students were honored at the 2023 B-Section Physics Club Awards on June 8. Students who provide outstanding service to the physics program and University receive the Outstanding Service Award. Some recipients were recognized for their service as supplemental instruction (SI) leaders for Introductory Physics and others were recognized for their service as executive board members of the Physics Club.

The students on Kettering's Intelligent Ground Vehicle Competition (IGVC) team felt stressed ahead of the annual competition, but their hard work earned them a third-place finish. The team, which consisted of the undergraduate and graduate-level Introduction to Autonomous Driving (CE-451 and CE-651) classes, competed June 2-5 at the 30th Annual IGVC at Oakland University in Rochester. Kettering University will award President's Medals during the 2023 Honors Banquet at Durant-Dort Factory One in Flint on June 16. President's Medals recognize students who have demonstrated excellence in cooperative employment, scholarship and community engagement.

Several students were honored at the 2023 B-Section Physics Club Awards on June 8. The Outstanding Physics Performance Award is given to students with excellent performance in introductory physics courses and typically completed the sequence during the past academic year.

Kettering University will honor its Sobey Scholar recipients during the 2023 Honors Banquet at Durant-Dort Factory One in Flint on June 16. Sobey Scholar awards are given to students who were elected to an academic honor society and Kettering's Robots Honor Society, which recognizes outstanding leadership, service and citizenship to the university community.

Kettering University will recognize its summa cum laude graduates during its 2023 Honors Banquet on June 16. Summa cum laude students earned a grade point average of 3.90 or higher. This achievement represents the highest academic distinction.

The Delta Zeta Chapter of Gamma Sigma Alpha initiated more than 30 members from across three councils and 12 chapters within Kettering Fraternity and Sorority Life on June 6. Gamma Sigma Alpha National Greek Academic Honor Society accepts members of Greek organizations who have completed at least 39 credit hours with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above, or students with a 3.5 GPA in any semester during their junior or senior year. Both chapters of Gamma Sigma Alpha at Kettering have been chartered for 26 years.

The Michigan Zeta Chapter of Tau Beta Pi inducted five new members May 25. Tau Beta Pi is an engineering honor society. To be eligible for membership, undergraduate students must be in the top 12.5% of their junior class or the top 20% of their senior class and exhibit exemplary character.

Kettering University congratulates the new members of the Theta Epsilon chapter of Eta Kappa Nu, Electrical and Computer Engineering Honors Society.

Three members of Alpha Sigma Alpha (ASA) received a 2023 undergraduate scholarship from the national Order of Omega. This is the second consecutive year a member of Kettering University Fraternity and Sorority Life has received an Order of Omega scholarship. The Order of Omega is a leadership honor society of members of fraternity and sorority organizations. Its purpose is to recognize outstanding leadership, unite active members of fraternity and sorority life, and create an atmosphere where ideas and issues can be discussed openly across Greek lines. Since 1985, Order of Omega has awarded more than $1.2 million in undergraduate scholarships and more than $200,000 in graduate fellowships.

Upsilon Pi Epsilon inducted new members on May 16. Upsilon Pi Epsilon is the computer science honor society. To qualify, members must be seniors in the top 33% of computer science majors in their graduating class and have a GPA over 3.5.

The School of Management Awarded two Outstanding Management Thesis Awards on May 11 during its 2023 Celebration of Excellence event. The Outstanding Management Thesis Award is presented in recognition of exemplary research.

Four students were inducted into the Nu Chi Chapter of Delta Mu Delta on May 11. Delta Mu Delta is an international honor society that recognizes academic excellence among Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs-accredited schools. To become a member, students must be a junior or senior, major in an undergraduate management program, earn a 3.7 GPA or higher and be in the 20th percentile of their college class in cumulative average grades.

In its first trip to the VEX Robotics World Championship, the Kettering University VEX U team, KUdos, captured the Sportsmanship Award. The team competed at the championship April 27-29 in Dallas. To read more, click here.

The Kettering Leaders accepted four new fellows during the 2022 Spring Term. The Kettering LEADERS endowment was established in 1999 to promote leadership development and foster personal growth through alumni mentoring and coaching. Its mission is to "Grow Kettering's most-promising leaders," and its vision is "A civic duty to 21st-century leadership development."

Rana Fanous ('23, Management) and Kelsie McManus ('23, ME) received second place in the Business Research Competition at the Collegiate DECA International Career Development Conference & Competition in Orlando, Florida, April 15-18. The pair was among the 29 Kettering University students who attended the conference. But that wasn't the only award Kettering students brought home, as 22 of the students were named Top Finalists in their respective events and received Finalists Medallions.

Nearly 1,200 college students from 34 states (including Puerto Rico) attended the conference. The Kettering University team of 29 was the largest student delegation representing the state of Michigan, which sent 80 total students to the conference.

The Kettering University EV Kartz team earned multiple awards this year at the annual evGrandPrix in West Lafayette, Indiana, giving the team its best-ever finish. The competition, which took place April 14-15, featured 15 teams that designed and built electric go-karts for the race. Kettering earned first place in the engineering design category and was named the most technologically advanced team. Overall, the University finished second and placed third in the 50-lap head-to-head kart race.
